Heritage Scholars

The next generation of leaders

Every year we award Heritage Scholarships to 11 high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community service and leadership skills. Since the program began in 1993, we’ve distributed $5.38 million in scholarships to 386 students from Beaufort and Jasper Counties through four-year awards of $16,000-$20,000 and one-year grants of $4,000—much of it raised through contributions from our Tartan Club members.

The 2025 applications will be available through the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry’s scholarship portal in the fall of 2024. Students must create a username and password to access the application using this link: https://cf-lowcountry.org/students/how-to-apply-for-a-scholarship.

To be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:

1. be a high school senior
2. have a 3.5 or greater unweighted GPA on the SC Uniform Grading Scale
3. be a legal U.S. citizen
4. be a legal resident of Beaufort or Jasper County.
5. parents/guardians combined adjusted annual income must be less than $150,000
6. must enter college within one year after high school graduation.
7. must attend high school in Beaufort or Jasper County, be home schooled or attend a Governor’s School.

Our future’s in good hands with these young adults.
