The professional golfers are what attract most spectators and sponsors year after year to our tournament. But it is the countless hours and dedication of hard working volunteers that make it an event to which they want to return. Selfless acts of kindness are committed year round by these generous individuals, whose compensation comes in the reassurance that their time assists in the overall picture of generating money for charity.

For several years, the tournament's dedicated volunteer organization, some 1,200 members strong, has received the PGA TOUR's highest rating; they are recognized for the professionalism and passion they exude while dedicating themselves to this event. Volunteers serve as marshals, scorers and standard bearers. Yet the public does not see each and every dedicated volunteer, as some have responsibilities off the course. These individuals handle registration, drive the pros to and from the airport, shuttle players and caddies, care for the children of the pros, as well as the many other pertinent tasks that help the tournament run as smoothly as it does. Those who are chosen to become tournament volunteers love golf and have a desire to help charities. Once selected, volunteers receive appropriate training, uniforms and a schedule tailored to their availability.

Although the professional golfers take center stage at the Verizon Heritage, the real stars are the tournament's volunteers who work diligently behind the scenes ensuring a world class event it provided to the public year after year.
