Verizon Heritage, South Carolina’s
only PGA TOUR event, is recognized as one of the premier
golf tournaments in the country. Played at the famed
Harbour Town Golf links in The Sea Pines Resort since
1969, the event has rich history in the lowcountry
that continues to flourish year after year.
Harbour Town Golf Links is recognized annually as
one of America’s top courses and is repeatedly
selected by the PGA TOUR professionals as one of their
favorites. Designed by Pete Dye in consultation with
Jack Nicklaus in the fall of 1969, the course has
always served as the host of the Verizon Heritage.
Apart from being played on a world-famous golf course,
the Verizon Heritage is conducted in one of America’s
premier resorts. Located on the southern tip of Hilton
Head Island, The Sea Pines Resort offers accommodations,
recreation, sports amenities and an intimacy unequaled
by any other PGA TOUR stop.
We are proud that an incredible number of our past
champions such as Nick Faldo, Hale Irwin, Bernhard
Langer, Johnny Miller, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman,
Nick Price, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and the late
Payne Stewart have gone on to become enshrined in
the World Golf Hall of Fame. Their hallowed performances
set the tone each April as the Harbour Town Golf Links
continues to attract an excellent field of internationally
ranked players, widely regarded as one of the strongest
on the PGA TOUR.

However, the real winners of the Verizon Heritage are
the thousands of people the tournament helps each
year. The Heritage Classic Foundation, general sponsor
of the Verizon Heritage, provides the financial stability,
guidance and direction to the tournament. The Foundation’s
one simple goal is charity. Since it was founded in
1987 as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization,
the Heritage Classic Foundation has helped numerous
lives throughout the state. After each tournament,
the Foundation distributes revenue produced by the
event to a wide variety of local and area charitable
organizations, universities and medical institutions.
In 2007, the Heritage Classic Foundation was honored
to distribute $1.8 million dollars, bringing the total
to $16.6 million since 1987.
With support from loyal sponsors, spectators and
volunteers, the Verizon Heritage looks forward to continuing
the tradition of giving year after year.
This year the Verizon Heritage will be held April 9th-15th.
