The Heritage Classic Foundation’s primary source
of revenue comes from the operation of the Verizon Heritage, a PGA TOUR event. Since 1987, the tournament
has been played at the Harbour Town Golf Links under
the direct control of the Foundation.
Tournament related revenue consists of patron and
other admission sales, pro-am fees, concession revenues
and other miscellaneous tournament related receipts.
The Foundation also earns interest income on bank
deposits and investments. It also receives some donations
from corporations and individuals.
Generally, tournament related revenue accounts for
approximately 90-95% of the Foundation’s total
revenue. Contributions account for about 1-6% of revenue,
while interest accounts for the remaining 1-3%.
The annual expenses incurred by the Foundation generally
fall into four categories: (1) tournament related;
(2) general and administrative; (3) contributions
and grants; and (4) scholarship distributions. Generally,
80% of expenses are related to the tournament, 15%
to contributions and grants, 3% to general and administrative
and 2% to scholarships.
